Norwegian Crime Novels

Get a feel for Norwegian culture and read Norwegian crime stories! Norwegian writer Gunnar Staalesen has written a dozen or so books, numerous short stories and even two graphic novels about hard-working and even more hard-drinking privatdetektiven VARG VEUM, a former Child Welfare worker and "slightly" alcoholic divorced father of one son, who plies his trade (and does his drinking) in Bergen, Norway. Not all of them are translated into English, one of his earlier works "YOURS UNTIL DEATH" and the latest "THE WRITING ON THE WALL" are both available through amazon.com.

Out of reach...

An uninhabited frozen island halfway between South Africa and Antarctica, Bouvet Island is the most remote island in the world, and as such, perhaps the most remote landmass in the world. It's only 49 km2 big and is uninhabited. Bouvet Island has been a Norwegian territory since 1928. Try to find it on a map!
